You'll build the AI bits that real people use: chat assistants, voice agents and the workflows behind them.

Remote · Internship · India · Applications paused

The AI Engineer Intern at LaunchPixel builds features on top of large language models, things like chat assistants, voice agents, document search and small automations, for our own products and for client work. It's unpaid and fully remote, it runs for 3 to 6 months, and it's open to students and recent grads anywhere in India. You finish with a certificate and a letter of recommendation.

About the role

A lot of our work has a language model in it somewhere now. Our own website has a chat assistant, we run voice agents that make and take phone calls, and our ad and SEO tools lean on models for the heavy lifting.

You'll help build and improve that stuff with real code, real prompts and real users. Most of the job is making models useful: feeding them the right data, giving them tools, and catching them when they make things up, which they do. Nobody here trains models from scratch, so you won't either.

What will you work on?

Most of your time goes into features built on the OpenAI, Claude and Gemini APIs. You'll write prompts, and then (the part people skip) test them against a small set of real questions so we can tell when a change makes things worse. You'll hook models up to our own documents with retrieval (RAG) so their answers come from facts, and give agents tools so they can look something up or fill in a form. Cost matters to us too. If a small, cheap model gets the answer right, we use it, and you'll learn to check that. Oh, and write down what you tried. Two lines in our notes saves the next person a whole afternoon.

Who can apply?

Most people who apply are students or recent grads from CS or IT. Mechanical or commerce is fine too, as long as you can code. You should be able to write working Python or JavaScript, and you should have called an LLM API at least once. If you haven't, it takes an evening to try. Being able to explain what you built in plain English counts for a lot here, and a GitHub profile or even one small AI project helps more than you'd think.

What do you get?

It's unpaid, so here's the honest list. You'll ship AI features that real users touch, get feedback on your code from people who build this every day, and work from home on hours that suit you. When you finish, you get a certificate and a letter of recommendation, and if you're really good, a shot at a full-time role.

FAQs

Is the AI Engineer internship at LaunchPixel paid?

No. It's an unpaid internship, and we say that upfront so nobody's surprised. In exchange you work on AI features that actually ship, and you leave with a certificate, a letter of recommendation and a fair chance at a full-time role.

Do I need machine learning experience?

Not really. The work is building products on top of models that already exist, so think software engineering more than research. If you can code in Python or JavaScript and you've played with an LLM API, you'll be fine. We'll fill in the rest as we go.

Which models and tools will I use?

Mostly the OpenAI, Claude and Gemini APIs, and open models on Groq when cost matters. You'll write Python or TypeScript. Use Cursor, Claude Code or Copilot if you like; we do. We would much rather you ship with AI help than struggle without it.

Is it remote, and how long does it last?

Fully remote, yes. Patna or Pune, it makes no difference to us. Pick anything from 3 to 6 months when you apply and tell us how many hours a day you can give, and we'll plan your work around that. A laptop and decent internet are all you need.

Can I apply for the AI Engineer internship right now?

Not right now. Our AI team is full, so we've paused this role, and we'll reopen it on this page when we need more people. In the meantime, our other open roles are on the careers page.
